There are many different types of vinyl flooring available now, and it is no longer easy for a layman to decide which type of flooring is suitable for the intended use. What types of vinyl flooring are there and how do they differ?
1. Based on the structure, vinyl flooring (PVC flooring) can be divided into:
(1) Heterogeneous PVC flooring:
It has a multi-layer structure, usually formed by laminating 4 to 5 layers. Usually, it has a wear-resistant layer (including UV treatment), a printing layer, a glass fiber layer, and an elastic foam layer, a base layer, etc. This type of PVC can be combined with other flooring materials for use in homes, commercial and industrial spaces.
(2) Homogeneous vinyl flooring or semi-homogeneous PVC flooring:
From top to bottom, that is, from the surface to the bottom, from top to bottom, it is the same color. Homogeneous PVC flooring is an economical solution due to its long service life, so they are suitable for high-traffic and industrial areas, such as hospitals, schools, libraries, supermarkets, warehouses, etc.
2. According to the appearance design, vinyl flooring (PVC flooring) can be divided into:
(1) Inlaid vinyl flooring:
Natural color particles are arranged naturally. The adaptability of the overall concept allows you to use inserted vinyl in almost any environment. However, what many homeowners don’t like is that it looks like what it should look like: vinyl. However, you should consider inlaid vinyl for kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor areas.
(2) Printed vinyl flooring:
In fact, this is simple vinyl that can easily be artificially intervened, that is, prints are added that can make it more suitable for decorating your home. Many homeowners prefer printed vinyl to loaded vinyl because it is printed in a way that looks like marble, hardwood or other types of expensive flooring.
3. Based on shape and size, vinyl flooring (PVC flooring) can be divided into:
(1) Sheet vinyl (PVC) flooring:
Vinyl sheet flooring is like smaller planks that are still large enough to cover smaller floor areas at once. Vinyl sheets are typically available in lengths between 6 and 12 feet (1000 mm to 2000 mm) and are ideal for bathrooms or smaller kitchens. They are available in a variety of options. Most often, you will be asked to choose between loose (floating), cushioned (insulated), or full vinyl sheets. The main differences are the different installation methods and the presence of a comfort layer. Cushioned vinyl flooring is glued to a special comfort layer and can be applied to virtually any surface. However, full vinyl sheets require a smooth subfloor and can only be held together at the edges. The best vinyl flooring is loose (floating) flooring, in which the sheets are loosely laid on the floor and are only attached around the edges with adhesive tape.
(2) Vinyl (PVC) plank:
Vinyl plank is an excellent choice for people who want the look and durability of hardwood flooring at a low cost. Planks are large, square or one-piece rolls of vinyl. Many people prefer to use vinyl planks because of their similarity to hardwood flooring. Laying plank flooring is the least time-consuming, but be aware that even minor damage may mean you have to replace the flooring entirely. Specifications for vinyl (PVC) plank flooring: 4 inches by 36 inches (101.6 mm by 914.4 mm), 6 inches by 36 inches (152.4 mm by 914.4 mm), 8 inches by 36 inches (203.2 mm by 914.4 mm), thickness: 1.2mm-3.0mm.
(3) Vinyl (PVC) tiles:
According to some interior designers, vinyl tiles are not exactly "luxury." However, there are a variety of practical reasons to consider them. Most importantly, vinyl tiles can be easily removed or replaced without having to adjust the entire floor coverage. Also, if you want your floor to resemble a high-end marble floor, for example, vinyl tiles can look elegant. The specifications of square vinyl tiles are: 12"×12" (304.8mm×304.8mm), 18"×18" (457.2mm×457.2mm), 24"×24" (609.6mm×609.6mm), thickness: 1.2mm to 3.0mm.
(4) LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile):
Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) has a wood and stone look and is designed to resist moisture and the daily wear and tear of the most active homes. If you don't mind spending a little extra, luxury vinyl tile may be a great choice for your home. With 3D imaging technology, LVT can mimic almost any style of flooring. In addition, the embossed layer imitates the texture, making your luxury vinyl more realistic. LVT is an ideal flooring type for both private homes and commercial locations. It can be installed anywhere in the home, such as bathrooms, kitchens, basements and laundry rooms, as well as a variety of commercial locations such as hotels and restaurants.
